Burnside Road

Sebastopol, CA

Just outside Sebastopol, we created an outdoor sanctuary for a San Francisco family to relax and entertain guests on weekends.

The site, with its gentle south-facing slope, offers lovely views across a tree-lined creek to a vineyard beyond. Our design approach was intentionally minimal, allowing the natural beauty of the site to be the primary focus rather than the architecture itself.

We created distinct zones for food preparation and dining, both shaded by a steel-framed canopy infilled with wood louvers. Lighting and outdoor heaters are discreetly integrated into the steel frame.

A low board-formed concrete wall retains the slope, providing a level area for the pool. The concrete and wood pool deck is softened and broken up by lush native plantings that frame the poolside lounges.
